On 14th November 2025, the Ganol team conducted a meeting with the Balnangre community under Rerapara Block, South West Garo Hills District, to discuss the formation of the Village Project Implementation Committee (VPIC) under the project. Balnangre village is inhabited by the Garo community and comprises 104 households.
A review meeting was held on November 13, 2025, in the NIC Conference Hall, Tura, West Garo Hills, to discuss the progress, key issues, challenges, and overall status of the MegARISE project. The meeting was chaired by Shri Vibhor Aggarwal, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, WGH, Tura.
Also present were Miss Richa Kulkarni, IAS, SDO (Sadar), WGH, Tura, and Smt. Cherime W. Sangma, MCS, BDO, Rongram, along with staff from the Ganol Catchment Management Unit.
Field Inspection on Plantation Activities
On 11th November 2025, the CMU team conducted a field inspection in Rangsyuin and Kharnongwah villages to review the ongoing plantation activities. The visit revealed that boundary fencing and the first round of weeding had been completed across all plots, with a recorded planting survival rate of approximately 70–80%.
Meeting on Plantation Site Assessment at 12 Mer Village, Laitkroh Block
On 11th October 2025, a meeting was held with the Headman, VCF, and Village Secretary of 12 Mer Village under Laitkroh Block. The meeting followed a drone-based Land Use Land Cover (LULC) analysis, which identified approximately 131.5 hectares of barren land and 77 hectares of open forest, highlighting strong potential for plantation development.
Review Meeting with Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills
On 10th November 2025, the EKH CMU team held a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills, to review project progress and discuss the way forward. The session, also attended by the ADC, highlighted key action points such as building villagers’ trust to enhance participation, protecting springs during rejuvenation works, seeking expert advice before using cement near water sources, coordinating with the Water Rejuvenation Task Force, and involving BDOs to strengthen field-level implementation.
Joint Field Inspection at Mylliem Mawsawa VPIC
The FPA 1 Competition was successfully conducted at Lyngkien Mylliem VPIC on 5th November 2025. The event was a vibrant celebration of creativity and imagination, featuring both Drawing and Storytelling Competitions.A total of 27 enthusiastic contestants participated, representing diverse backgrounds and age groups.

Joint Field Inspection at Pomkaniew VPIC
On 11th Nov 2025, a joint field inspection was conducted at Pomkaniew VPIC to assess quarrying sites and plan interventions aimed at reducing silt deposition in Wah Umtyngar. The inspection was led by the Water Resources Department, accompanied by the Executive Director, DPD, and staff from the SPMU and CMU Umiew teams.
FPA 1 Competition at Mawtyllup VPIC
The FPA 1 Competition was successfully held at Mawtyllup VPIC on 11th November 2025, celebrating creativity and imagination through Drawing and Storytelling Competitions. A total of 43 enthusiastic participants from diverse backgrounds took part, reflecting the inclusive and spirited nature of the event.
The Storytelling Competition emphasized the importance of preserving the environment and ancestral wisdom, with prizes awarded to:
