Meeting on Plantation Site Assessment at 12 Mer Village, Laitkroh Block
On 11th October 2025, a meeting was held with the Headman, VCF, and Village Secretary of 12 Mer Village under Laitkroh Block. The meeting followed a drone-based Land Use Land Cover (LULC) analysis, which identified approximately 131.5 hectares of barren land and 77 hectares of open forest, highlighting strong potential for plantation development.
The discussion focused on assessing the suitability of the identified areas for plantation activities. It was noted that while some areas are under clan and private ownership, others belong to the community. The Headman and VCF expressed that the villagers had limited awareness of the plantation initiative, perceiving it as a one-time activity without long-term maintenance provisions. They also raised concerns over land ownership issues.
