On 2nd December 2025, a focused and productive meeting was convened in the DC’s Chamber to address the growing issue of siltation affecting the Mawphlang Dam, which is central to the Umiew catchment. The discussion aimed to identify the underlying causes of siltation and explore feasible solutions through multi-departmental coordination.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the ADC Office, PD DRDA, Disaster Management & Mineral Resources, State Pollution Control Board, PHE Department, DFOs (Social & Territorial), NHIDCL, and IMD. Key points of discussion included the utilisation of the baseline survey from the Water Resources Department, identification of villages contributing to siltation, and ensuring effective convergence among all stakeholders.The overall objective of the meeting was to reduce siltation through coordinated actions and targeted interventions.
